A Professional Certified Geriatric Care Manager (GCM) is a health and human services specialist who helps families who are caring for older relatives or loved ones. The GCM is trained and experienced in any of several fields related to care management, including nursing, gerontology, social work or psychology with a specialized focus on aging and elder care. The National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) requires specific higher education levels, supervised work experience and one of four industry-sanctioned certifications for membership as a Certified Geriatric Care Manager.

This massive population is being actively challenged with caring for parents in addition to life planning for their own long-term care management.
